The nation's largest city by population doesn't have to mean spending all your time sitting on your bike stuck in traffic. There are places to go and things to see that your motorbike can take you. You may have to get out of town a little, but just north of Sydney you have the beautiful Hunter Valley, west are the Blue Mountains and National Parks and State Forest to the south.
The Blue Mountains is a World Heritage listed region, full of unspoilt scenery such as the Three Sisters. A bike ride here with a group of friends is something you must do, with many scenic and winding roads taking you right through the mountain ranges. There are plenty of places you can stop off for a coffee or bite to eat, and why not make a full day of it and go on a few bushwalks to the many waterfalls in the area.
The wine district of the picturesque Hunter Valley is right on Sydney's doorstep. Ride the roads between the vineyards and sample some of the country's best wines along the way.
If staying in the city, a ride to Sydney Heads or through Bondi can still be fun, or take a trip further down to the coastal regions of St George and Cronulla.
Perth Bike Trips
The city of Perth itself has some beautiful spots to take a bike ride to, such as Kings Park and Botanic Gardens. Or perhaps a ride nearby the Swan River or up to Fraser Avenue lookout. There are also some great wine areas within the region of this city.
My suggestion is to get your friends together and head out of town for a few days, following the coast south to Bunbury, the Margaret River and Albany, then circling back to Perth via an inland route. There are some great forest areas on this strip, with long stretches of winding road.
Another idea is to head west of Perth on a short trek to the historic town of York. It's only about an hour from the city and you travel through some very scenic countryside.

Melbourne Motorbike Trails
Here's a list of some of the top Melbourne bike rides:
Lerderderg State Forest - Head west out of the city, ride through Mount Macedon and on to Gisborne. At Trentham there are waterfalls you can visit, then stop off at the old Cobb & Co for lunch.
Brisbane Ranges - Much the same direction as the trek above, here you can stop off at some abandoned mining settlements. Looping through the Brisbane Ranges makes for a challenging and scenic bike tour.
Yarra Valley - There are plenty of roads to follow in this region and many places to visit, including the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery. Yum. Reefton Road has an interesting series of twists and turn as you head into Reefton.
The Goldfields - This is a great ride, where you can not only travel through some fantastic scenery, but also take in the eeriness of the ghost towns and explore the Victorian Goldfields. Maybe you might even strike it lucky.
Dandenong Ranges - The Dandenongs are the closest mountains to Melbourne city. Head through Mount Dandenong via the Tourist Road and take in the sights, then travel to Emerald for a bite to eat before moving on to Ferntree Gulley.
Brisbane Roads By Bikes
A trek around the Brisbane CBD and taking in the scenes of the Brisbane River can be a nice weekend ride. The other advantage to Brisbane is its access to nearby locales such as north to the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast to the south, or head west and explore the Scenic Rim.
Along the Scenic Rim - a favourite for motorcycle riders - there is the Glasshouse Mountains, areas such as Lake Moogerah (which is a nice ride), and further south there is all of the Gold Coast Hinterland with its National parks, bushwalks and waterfalls. If you have a few days to travel you can ride even deeper into the Scenic Rim and take in much more of this beautiful region.

The Importance Of Tightening Spokes On Wire Wheels On Classic Cars
Over the years I have replaced the wire wheels on some of our cars (MGB Roadster, Triumph TR4a and Austin Healey) with Minilite alloy wheels and have D-Type alloy wheels on our Jaguar E-Type. These are easier to clean, no spokes to mess about with and they are actually easier for tyre companies to balance properly so normally make for a smoother, better ride. One of my latest acquisitions is a 1961 Jaguar Mk2 saloon which arrived with chrome wire wheels. Minilites would beware of build a Jaguar and changing to standard steel wheels would involve replacing the hubs, and would look a bit plain and boring. So interval I am sticking with the wire wheels.
Cleaning the wheels recently, I noticed that a couple of the spokes were loose, and much credit to my local garage they also spotted this on the car's annual MOT test, so I decided I needed to check all the spokes on all five wheels (including the spare).
This is a non-trivial task and can't be perfect the wheels on the car as you need to manage get to both sides of the wheels to tighten the outer and inner spokes. First you need a spoke spanner, or at least a spanner the same size as the spoke nipples. Once all the spokes have been tightened you can re-inflate the wheel to the correct pressure, then refit to the car and move onto the next wheel. Completing all five wheels will probably take a couple of hours. Particularly if like me, you use the opportunity, of having the wheels off the car, to clean and polish them properly.

Fantastic 1966 Porsche 912 Barn Find
Porsche offered the transitory 912 through 1969, how it was then replaced with the 914 model, before returning for a different person year in 1976 as the 912E.
This 912 in particular was buy its original Tennessee owner and is in very restorable condition. The current owner reports that the gauges, radio and even wipers still work. The engine runs, but extol need a complete adapt and probably a good general going over.
